Two optometrists, both qualified in the work most practices refer out

The person who assesses your eyes at NVISION is the person who fits your lenses and monitors your progress. Here is who they are and why the practice is built this way.

NVISION Eyecare is a two-optometrist practice, and that is deliberate. Both optometrists hold postgraduate qualifications, both are therapeutically endorsed, and both have special-interest accreditation in the areas most practices refer out — myopia control, orthokeratology and dry eye.

It means the person who assesses you is the person who treats you. There is no handover to a specialist elsewhere for the fitting, the follow-ups or the long-term monitoring, and no gap between the diagnosis and the plan.

Why the practice works this way

An independent practice, on purpose

A practice built around the hard cases

NVISION Eyecare® was founded in 2018 in the Apollo Health & Wellness Centre, specifically to offer an eye-care-focused optometry service — one where children's vision, specialty contact lenses and dry eye could be done properly rather than squeezed between retail appointments.

That shows up in the equipment. Corneal topography, dry eye imaging and OCT are used as part of the assessment rather than sold as extras, and our principal optometrist also directs a company developing diagnostic testing equipment for other optometrists.

Working alongside other clinicians

Being inside the Apollo Health & Wellness Centre means we work alongside other health professionals. Where an eye finding points to something systemic — or where a condition needs an ophthalmologist — that conversation happens directly rather than through a letter and a six-week wait.

Staying current

Both optometrists attend conferences in New Zealand and overseas and undertake continuing professional development. One is currently completing a PhD in dry eye research at the University of Auckland, which keeps the practice unusually close to the evidence in an area where the technology is still moving quickly.
