What your appointment will cost, and what might cover it
Three things can reduce what you pay at NVISION Eyecare: your health insurance, a government subsidy you may already qualify for, and how you choose to pay. Here is all of it in one place, with our published fees alongside.
Book an appointment
No referral needed, for any appointment — including specialty Ortho-K, dry eye and keratoconus consultations.
Send a messageSouthern Cross Easy Claim
We are an Easy Claim partner, so your claim is processed here rather than by you afterwards.
NVISION Eyecare® is a Southern Cross Easy Claim partner. In practice that means we can process your claim on the spot through the Easy Claim portal at the end of your appointment, rather than you paying in full and claiming it back yourself afterwards.
Depending on your plan, you may be entitled to reimbursement towards your consultation, your glasses and your contact lenses. We can check your entitlement through the Easy Claim portal before you commit to anything — so if you want to know what you will actually be out of pocket, ask us at the start of the appointment rather than the end.
Cover varies considerably between Southern Cross plans, and optical benefits are usually an annual allowance rather than a percentage. Specialty treatments such as Ortho-K may attract partial cover on some plans; we recommend confirming with Southern Cross directly for anything substantial.
Two subsidies worth checking before you pay
Both are administered here at the practice. Neither is means-tested on the day — you either qualify or you don’t, and we can tell you which.
Enable under-16 spectacle subsidy
This subsidy is for children under 16 whose family holds a Community Services Card. It entitles the holder to an annual subsidy towards spectacles. Bring the Community Services Card to the appointment and we will handle the paperwork.
Ministry of Health contact lens subsidy
NVISION Eyecare® holds a contract with the Ministry of Health to administer a subsidy for severe eye conditions that require contact lens correction — keratoconus being the most common. This matters for keratoconus patients in particular, because it applies to the specialty lenses that make a genuine difference to vision, not just to standard spectacles.
Eligibility is assessed against the condition and the clinical need for contact lens correction. If you have been diagnosed with keratoconus, or your corneal mapping at NVISION indicates it, ask us whether the subsidy applies to your case.
Payment and finance options
We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus Q Card and Gem Visa for treatments you would rather spread over time. Q Card and Gem Visa are third-party finance products with their own terms, interest-free periods and approval criteria — those are set by the provider, not by us.
For larger treatments such as an Ortho-K fitting package or a course of dry eye treatment, it is worth asking about payment options at the point of booking rather than on the day, so nothing about the cost is a surprise.
